SUKKUR, May 11: The District Police Officer of Sukkur, Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh, said here on Thursday that four members of a gang of car lifters have been arrested and six cars, two motorcycles and arms and ammunition have been seized from them. He added that raids were being conducted to arrest other members of the gang.

The police chief addressing a press conference in his office here on Thursday.

ASP City Mohammad Athar Ismail was also present on the occasion.

He said that Sukkur police were striving here to curb crimes and eliminate criminals from the district and to restore the writ of law.

He said that a special team headed by the DSP of Headquarters, Manzoor Ahmed Sangri, along with the SHO of the ‘A’ section police station, Sukkur, Masood Mahar, and SHO of Baiji Sub-Inspector Jawed Alam Abro had launched a drive against criminals in April and so far arrested four members of the gang.

The gang members used to snatch cars from Karachi and dispose them of in the interior of Sindh.

Six cars, two motorcycles, three pistols and a large number of bullets were found from the possession of the arrested members of the gang, Ashraf Beri, Manzoor Jatoi, Mohsin Solangi and Sadiq Chandio.

He further said that the gang used to sell stolen cars on instalments after getting a fixed amount as down payment.

The DPO said that a comprehensive plan has been chalked out to maintain law and order in the district.
