RAWALPINDI: A woman was allegedly killed by her brothers-in-law, allegedly in the name of honour, in the Rawat area, while a cab driver was murdered in Kallar Syedan, police said on Tuesday.

Asad Ali Mirza, sub-inspector at Rawat police station, lodged an FIR stating that he was on night patrol duty when he heard gunfire and cries coming from a house in Dhoke Ghulam Ali.

Upon hearing the gunshots, he and his team rushed to the scene and found that the house belonged to a man named Faisal Mehmood.

Two individuals were seen fleeing from the premises and were later identified as residents of Dhoke Ghulam Ali.

Sub-Inspector Mirza stated that when they entered the house, they found the body of a woman who had been shot dead. During the investigation, the deceased was identified as Zehrish, wife of Faisal Mehmood.

He further stated in the FIR that both suspects who fled the scene had allegedly tortured and killed the woman in the name of honour.

In the second incident, a cab driver was stabbed to death by his rivals in Kallar Syedan.

Sughran Bibi lodged an FIR with the Kallar Syedan police, stating that her brother, Mazhar Hussain, an unmarried cab driver, was critically injured in a brawl.

She said she was visiting a relative on Monday night when she was informed that her brother had been involved in an

altercation with someone and was critically injured.

Upon receiving the call, she rushed to the scene and found her brother lying in a pool of blood. She said Muhammad Tayyab told her that they were

in the bazaar when they saw a suspect, who was armed with a knife, quarrelling with Mazhar Hussain.

The assailants fled the scene after people began shouting.

She said that before losing consciousness, her brother revealed the names of the attackers.

Mazhar Hussain reportedly succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the THQ hospital.

Police have registered a murder case and launched a search for the suspects.
