GILGIT: A man has been arrested for allegedly killing his three in-laws in Jutial area of Gilgit, local police have confirmed.

The killings took place on Friday night inside the victims’ home in Haidri colony.

As per the initial repo­rts, the assailant jumped the wall to enter the home and opened fire.

Two men, identified as Shireen Khan, and his son, Izhar Ali, died on the spot, while two women and a three-year-old child were injured.

Rescue officials moved the bodies and injured to the Provincial Headquar­ters Hospital, Gilgit.

Izhar’s mother also succumbed to her wounds at the hospital. His wife and daughter were under treatment in the hospital.

A case was registered at the Jutial police station in Gilgit and four people were arrested over their alleged involvement in the killing.

Police identified the prime suspect as Kamran, a police constable serving in the Special Protection Unit (SPU). He was arrested from Hisper Valley in Nagar.

He was married to Shireen’s daughter and had an alleged dispute with his wife’s family, police sources told Dawn.

Further investigation was underway, according to police.
