KARACHI, May 10: Brisk shipping activity was witnessed at the port where four ships to load/offload containers, rice, furnace oil and chemicals were allotted berths at QICT, MPT, Fotco oil terminal and Engro Vopak terminal, respectively, says a PQA message.

Meanwhile six more ships with containers, diesel oil and edible oil arrived at the outer anchorage.

Berth occupancy remained on higher side at 89 per cent on Tuesday where a total of eight ships occupied berths to load and offload containers, rice, sugar, furnace oil, chemicals and iron ore, respectively, during last 24 hours.

A record cargo volume was handled on Wednesday where a cargo of 0.112 million tons comprising of 0.094 million tons imports and 0.018 million tons exports, including 2,790 containers, was handled during the last 24 hours.

Two container ships and one chemical carrier sailed out.
