KARACHI: City’s weather conditions will remain hot and humid under the influence of a heatwave that has grilled the upper and central parts of the province.

The Met department’s data showed that while the coastal parts had less intense weather conditions on Monday, at least nine cities had 45-degree Celsius temperature or above the same day.

Jacobabad was the hottest place with 49°C followed by 47°C in Dadu and 46°C in Khairpur. Officials said that the heatwave caused by a high pressure area will persist till June 12.

“Daytime temperature is expected to remain 3-5°C above normal particularly in the upper and central parts of the province,” the department’s daily advisory says.

It advised the people to avoid direct exposure to sunlight, stay hydrated and ensure judicious use of water.

The maximum temperature recorded on Monday in Karachi was 34.4°C.
