RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has put Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital and Rawalpindi Teaching Hospitals on alert during three days of Eidul Azha to deal with possible Congo, heatwave and gastro patients.

In its letter to three government hospitals, the provincial health department asked medical superintendents to arrange the duty rosters and sufficient life saving drugs. It said that the hospitals should make arrangements to deal with patients.

While talking to Dawn, the three hospital officials said that the leave of doctors, paramedics and support staff at emergency department had been cancelled. However, they said that outpatient departments would remain closed for three days of Eid.

They said that all ambulances of these hospitals would remain on a standby during Eid days. They said that all doctors and paramedics had been directed to keep their mobile phones on so they could be asked to come on duty in case of an emergency.
