RAWALPINDI: A mother of a three-year-old child was allegedly killed by her husband over a family dispute in Dhoke Ghulam Ali, Rawat on Wednesday.

Adam Khan, a resident of Dhoke Ghulam Ali, lodged an FIR with the police, saying that he is a labourer and the father of six daughters and two sons. He said that his daughter Zardana Bibi, 25, was married to Nazar Khan some four years ago, and the couple was blessed with a daughter.

He further said in the FIR that his son-in-law is matrilocal and had been working as a driver of an excavator machine. He said that his son-in-law came to his house six days ago and stayed with them.

He said that as per routine, the couple with their infant daughter slept in their room on Tuesday night, but at about 2 am, he heard his daughter screaming.

On hearing that, he, along with his brother and son, went to their room and found Nazar Khan carrying a sharp knife and killing his daughter lying on her bed.

He said that as they switched on the light, they found Nazar Khan had killed Zardana Bibi and escaped while brandishing a knife and challenging them that he would kill whoever tried to intercept him.

Later, the police arrived at the scene and shifted the body of the deceased to the hospital for post-mortem.

A police spokesman said that the CPO has taken notice of the murder of a woman and sought the report from the ASP Saddar Division and directed the police to arrest the accused immediately.

According to the initial police report, the woman was murdered by her husband with a blunt weapon, as her husband had been staying with her in her parents’ house for a few days.

According to the father of the deceased woman, his daughter had been staying with her parents due to differences between the couple. Evidence was being collected by the police from the scene of the crime, while the body was removed to the DHQ hospital for post-mortem, police said.
