NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, May 9: Members of the district council here have sought intervention of the district nazim to resolve the issue of two per cent commission on the salary bills of union councils’ staff. Speaking at a council meeting, Hashim Navel complained that treasury officials were taking two per cent commission on salary bills

All the members stood up and supported the demand.

Daris Union Council Nazim Mohammad Chhuttal, Dangeja Union Council Nazim Mohammad Hayat Phull, Rasool Bughio complained against the shortage of water.

They claimed that irrigation officials were creating an artificial shortage of water to provide facility to big landlords, depriving the small ones.

Koor Hassan Union Council Nazim Ghulam Mohammad Abbasi complained that the building of the government girls’ primary school, Nooh Kalhoro village, had been constructed about 10 years ago, but no teacher had been appointed to run the school.

The nazim of Ghair Gajo Union Council complained that there were nine girls’ schools in the union council, but none of those schools had bathrooms. He also complained about the law and order situation and demanded setting up of a police picket in Ghair Gajo.

Councillor Mohammad Abbasi alleged that the Bhirya taluka nazim had misused funds and purchased Rs2.7 million vehicle. He demanded holding an inquiry and action against the nazim.

Councillor Abdul Ghaffar Dahraj alleged that the record of the district council was missing for four years and no body had been held responsible for this neglect.

The convener directed the the DCO to verify the claim and make available last four years’ record of the meetings of the council. Women members complained that they had not been given share in development schemes.

Speaking on the occasion, District Nazim Ghulam Rasool Jatoi told members that gas for Tharushah and Bhirya towns had been approved.

Later, the district naib nazim handed over a cheque of Rs17.960 million to the area manager of the Sui Southern Gas Company, Arif Mohammad Larik.
