SAHIWAL, May 8: On the orders of additional district and sessions judge, Noorshah police on Monday registered a case against Bahadar Shah post in-charge, a sub-inspector and six constables for illegally detaining the son of a widow. Reports said the police on Feb 6, 2006 had registered a theft case against Muhammad Amin of Chak 68/4-R, arrested his brother Muhammad Hanif, the son of a widow Manzooran. The police had detained him at the outhouse of a farmer for 10 days. The police did not register a case and allegedly detained Manzooran at a room for some time instead. Hanif was released after an undertaking that the family would not approach the police for registration of a case.

The widow filed a writ petition with the additional district and sessions judge who ordered registration of a case. The case was registered against Bahadar Shah police post in-charge Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmed, his colleagues SI Niaz Ahmed, six constables and two farmers under Sections 343, 148 and 149 of the PPC with no arrest so far.
