SUKKUR: A new pipeline being laid in Old Sukkur area has not been buried deep enough in the ground as per Sui Southern Gas Company’s regulations and even left uncovered at some places, posing constant danger to the area residents’ lives.

Locals complain that the two-inch diameter pipeline had not been laid two and a half feet underground as per rules and was being laid after digging only three inches in the ground.

They said that the pipeline had been left on the ground in some densely-populated localities. Exposed thus to elements and human activities, the pipeline could develop rupture at any time and lead to disaster, they warned.

Surprisingly, the SSGC had not so far paid any attention to this blatant violation of its regulations. No engineers of the company were seen at site during the laying of the pipeline through the area, they said.
