KARACHI: A traffic policeman was shot dead in a suspected targeted attack near the railway crossing on Mai Kolachi Road on Tuesday evening, police said.

DIG-South Syed Asad Raza said that Constable Zain Mohammed, 30, was on duty at a traffic police post when he was targeted by a lone assailant from behind.

He sustained two bullet wounds and died on the spot.

The DIG said that it appeared to be a targeted killing incident. However, investigators were collecting evidence to ascertain the exact motive for the murder.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.
