MOHMAND: Pakistan Peoples Party leaders here on Thursday said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf failed to deliver and mitigate suffering of people despite ruling Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for 12 years.

They were addressing a meeting held here at the residence of Malik Abdul Mateen. The meeting was attended by a large number of PPP workers and leaders including provincial president Mohammad Ali Shah Bacha, MPA Ahmad Karim Khan Kundi and Dr Alamzeb Mohmand.

Addressing the gathering, they said that PPP laid the foundation of development in tribal areas and played a key role in recognition of rights of tribal people.

They criticised other political parties, particularly PTI, for failing to deliver and provide basic facilities to people. “The people of Mohmand, located between two rivers, continue to suffer due to lack of drinking and irrigation water,” said MPA Ahmad Karim Kundi.

He said that provision of water to the area was possible with proper planning from the Kabul River and Mohmand Dam. “A special plan in this regard will be sent to President Asif Ali Zardari for approval,” he said.

PPP leaders accused PTI of rampant corruption and neglecting tribal areas. “The province cannot be left at the mercy of PTI any longer. To raise our voice for public rights, we will stage a sit-in in Peshawar on May 26,” said MPA Kundi.

He said that PPP would form the next government.
