TOBA TEK SINGH: Robbers killed an army soldier, who was home on leave, over resistance in the Chuttiana area of Toba on Sunday.

Rescue 1122 and police reports identified the victim as 38-year-old Mobeen Shahzad Jat, a resident of Chak 328-GB. He was returning from Chak 333-GB, bringing milk on his motorcycle when two robbers intercepted him near Chak 332-GB Jakhra on Pirmahal-Shorkot Road. When the suspects tried to rob him, he resisted and one of the suspects opened fire on him. A bullet hit his head.

As a result of the firing, Mobeen died on the spot. His body was handed over to his family after an autopsy at the Rural Health Centre, Chak 316-GB. In another incident in Toba, two car riders, including a child, were injured critically as their car collided with a tractor-trolley on Shorkot Road near Chak 299-GB. They were identified as Razzaq (55) and a child Abdul Rahman (6). They had been shifted to district headquarters hospital.

DROWNS: A boy is feared drowned in Gogera Branch Canal near Jhaal bridge in Jaranwala.

The victim was identified as Zain Abbas (18) who drowned when he was taking a bath along with his friends on Sunday. Rescue 1122 divers are trying to look for his body.

ARRESTED: A proclaimed offender in a double murder case was arrested by Khurrianwala police in Faisalabad, thirteen years after the incident. A press release said Kashif Saeed had shot dead two brothers, Dr Suhail and Dr Zaheer, over an old enmity on Sept 17, 2012.
