SAHIWAL: The Dera Rahim police have recovered a 14-year-old boy after 48 hours who was kidnapped for ransom by four suspects, including a woman, on the afternoon of May 15 from village 139/9-L, Tehsil Chichawatni.

Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two suspects, Ali Ahmed and his sister-in-law Ayesha Ramzan, and also identified two collaborators from the village who helped them in tracking and kidnapping the boy.

The Dera Rahim police had registered a case on the complaint of victim’s grandfather Muhammad Yaqoob. ASP Raosen Raisani told Dawn that police recovered the boy from an abandoned house in Ali Housing Scheme, Sahiwal. Police collected evidence and arrested two people, including a woman, on the night of May 17, he added.

Dera Rahim police SHO Majid said that Faraz was kidnapped outside his grandfather’s shop by four unknown persons. He said the boy was playing on the street when two suspects went inside the shop while the other two took the boy in a black car and fled. The kidnappers also took the victim’s mobile phone.

The SHO said the police tracked the mobile phones of the suspects. He said the boy was kidnapped because of enmity within the family. The ASP said the police were working on apprehending the other two suspects.
