PESHAWAR, May 6: MNA Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali on Saturday gave government a deadline to close down what he described as offices of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation in the district , saying a wheel-jam strike would be observed on Monday if the offices still remained open.

The MNA said at a press conference here on Saturday that the government’s silence over reports about presence of American agents in Chitral had proved its involvement in their activities.

He said that he would not hesitate from offering his life for the ouster of American agents from his areas.

He said Chitral was the most peaceful area of the country and no terrorist was hiding there.

He alleged that four FBI agents were brought to Dir ob April 26 in vehicles of American consulate, from where they had reached Chitral and were living in a building of Prince Farhad, a relative of the former prince of Chitral.

The MNA said that the four were posing to be NGO representatives.

He said he had been informed by the local administration that the foreigners had been provided logistic support by the government and he could not question them.

Mr Chitrali said the agents had left the area but their luggage was still there.

He said the government close the FBI offices, otherwise he would call a wheel-jam strike in the area.

He rejected a report of a US television channel showing some foreigners were shopping in Chitral Bazaar and their jeep in forest, saying that there was no road in Chitral forest.

He alleged that FBI agents had earlier stayed in a hotel in Chitral, where they had installed a device for monitoring the town.

He said that in the presence of the army, police and Chitral Scouts there was not need of American agents in the area.
