Furniture factory gutted

RAWALPINDI, May 6: A furniture factory was gutted in the Waris Khan police area while a shop was destroyed in two separate fire incidents due to short circuit near Waris Khan mohallah, the fire department officials said.

In the first incident, a fire that broke out in a furniture factory destroyed the goods valuing more than Rs0.6 million. The fire fighters put out the flames after more than one hour. However, nobody was burnt.

In the second incident, a shop was gutted. Our Staff Reporter from Islamabad adds: A fire broke out near a foreign embassy, located on Diplomatic Enclave causing damage to valuables and property.

The police and fire department said the fire which erupted in a green area near a foreign embassy at around 5:25 pm, spread quickly and engulfed nearby hut of a security guard within minutes.

However, no loss of life or any serious injuries were reported.

The cause of incident was yet to be ascertained.

In another incident a fire broke out in a factory at Industrial Area I-9/2 causing huge damage to valuables and property on Saturday night.

The police said the fire erupted in drums of chemical. As a result, card boards lying near the drums caught fire and reduce to ashes.
