HYDERABAD: The bodies of a couple and their two sons with their throats slit were found lying in a house in the Kotri area of Jamshoro district on Tuesday.

According to Jamshoro SSP Zafar Siddique Changha, they were murdered a few days back, but the area police learnt about the incident on Tuesday through a resident of the neighbourhood, Khuda Ki Basti.

“This is purely a case of honour killing,”

he said.

Preliminary inquiry suggested that Imran Ari, 34, and Aliya Buriro, 32, purportedly residents of Balochistan, had contracted a freewill marriage some 10 years ago. They had been facing threats to their lives from Aliya’s family and relatives who were not happy with their marriage.

The couple had to flee Balochistan and settle in Kotri to escape the wrath of Aliya’s relatives. It is learnt that the couple had survived in at least one attack about two years ago.

Imran and Aliya had been living in Kotri with their sons, Zeeshan, 9, and Mohammad Ali, 4. All of them were slain in their house a few days back, the police said, adding that the sharp-edged object used in the crime was found in the house and taken into custody.

The house where the bodies were found is owned by one, Shahnawaz Jamali.

The SSP said that the Kotri police intended to register the case on behalf of the state but learnt that Imran’s mother, along with his uncle, Hameedullah, brother Junaid and two cousins had arrived here from Usta Mohammad (Balochistan) to lodge the same.
