Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has contacted the leadership of Pakistan’s political parties to discuss the ongoing sky-high tensions with India and take them into confidence on the country’s response to its neighbour, according to PTV News.

PM Shehbaz spoke on the phone with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, JI Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, BAP head Khalid Hussain Magsi and PML-Q’s Chaudhry Salik Hussain.

He took the politicians “into confidence about the current tense situation and Pakistan’s retaliatory response to India”, PTV News said.

“The armed forces have given a strong and powerful response to India’s aggression in a coordinated manner,” PM Shehbaz was quoted as saying. “India conducted missile and drone attacks on Pakistan, but Pakistan showed extreme restraint,” he stressed.

The premier said India conducted missile attacks at the Nur Khan Air Base and other locations, adding that it put innocent civilians in danger. PM Shehbaz apprised the leaders of Pakistan’s retaliation and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to “thwarting India’s nefarious attempts to hurt Pakistan’s integrity”.
