Micheal Kugelman, a South Asia analyst has said that following a telephone call from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, “the next step in US mediation efforts should be for Trump to call Modi.”
“I’m not sure Trump would be keen to make that call, or if Modi would be receptive to a deescalation pitch, but it’s a call Trump really should make,” he said in a post on X.
