KARACHI, May 5: The very weather complexion of Karachi can be changed if trees are planted in abundance particularly “neem” trees, which bring rain and consume less water.

This was stated by Shahida Kausar Farooq while speaking at a tree plantation ceremony at the CDG Primary School Sultanabad, New Haji Camp.

She appealed to citizens to plant maximum number of trees, particularly “neem”, to arrest the intensity of heat and to contain pollution.

Accompanied by Shahzad Roy, a noted singer, Shahida said that her organization had planted thousands of trees.

In Karachi, she said, 17.5 million trees can be planted. If every citizen plants one tree and take cares of its growth, and if this exercise is maintained for a couple of years, there will be no need left to plant more trees.—APP
