KARACHI: A suspected robber was gunned down in an alleged encounter in Gulshan-i-Hadeed on Wednesday, police said.

They said that the shoot-out between the suspects and the Steel Town police took place near the office of the Sui Southern Gas Company.

In the exchange of gunfire, one of the suspects suffered bullet wounds and died, while his accomplices managed to escape.

The deceased was identified as Akbar Rafiq, 35.

The police claimed to have recovered one repeater gun and a motorcycle.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
