RAWALPINDI: Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Department of Law, on Saturday organised a contest under the theme of ‘Legislative Drafting and Policy Competition on AI Governance’ in the university.
The event was organised in collaboration with Sehrish Saba Raja and Associates Legal Clinic and Research Centre, The Society 5.0 Initiative, Law Students’ Council Pakistan, and other distinguished partners.
It brought together 11 teams from leading universities and think tanks across the country to present innovative legislative and policy proposals on artificial intelligence governance.
The basic aim of the competition was to promote student-led legal reform and spark national dialogue on regulating emerging technologies in the country.
MNA Huma Chughtai, FJWU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Bushra Mirza, and Additional Attorney General of Pakistan Sanaullah Zahid were the main guests. In their remarks, they highlighted the critical need for youth-driven policy innovation to address the challenges of the digital age.
The Closing Ceremony was chaired by retired Justice Musheer Alam, a former Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. As Chief Guest, he was joined by retired Justice Mohammad Nawaz Wahla, AI expert Umar Baig, and statistical analysis expert Dr Ayesha Nazuk. A panel of experts from legal, academic, and technological backgrounds evaluated the proposals based on creativity, feasibility, and social impact.
Noshiba Latif, Department of Law and Parliamentary Affairs, got first position, Bisma Javaid, Kiran Javed, and Shehryar Saleem – Bahria University, Islamabad, declared second in the competition.
The winners received certificates and an exclusive opportunity to present their proposals at AI Festival 2025, further elevating their role in shaping national AI policy.
