MULTAN, May 4: District and Sessions Judge Malik Azharul Haq Awan on Thursday ordered the release of 36 kiln workers, including 14 women, after their recovery from two brick kilns operating in the city.
Mulazim Husain stated in his habeas corpus petition that his 32 family members, including women and children, were confined to a brick kiln on Nawabpur Road by a contractor, Ijaz, who was allegedly making them work without wages.
A bailiff recovered the following detainees and produced them before the court on Thursday:
Abdul Hameed, Asif, Amjad, Razia Mai, Shaukat Ali, Najaf Ali, Qasim Ali, Hashmat Ali, Safia Mai, Malook Mai, Hakim Ali, Aamir, Sajid, Adnan, Sharif, Zaitoon Mai, Nadir, Asia, Allah Bachai, Shazia, Nawab Husain, Sajid Husain, Zulekha Mai, Imran, Shah Nawaz, Irshad Mai, Bilal, Mohammad Ishaq, Sajida Mai, Zohra Mai, Fayyaz and Shakeela.
In response to another petition filed by Mohammad Fayyaz, a bailiff raided another kiln at Pul Wasil, Chungi No 1, and recovered Kausar Mai, the wife of the petitioner, his son Ijaz, daughter Asma and a cousin.
The four detainees were also ordered to be released.— APP
