PESHAWAR: Six persons were killed and a passerby was injured when unidentified persons opened fire at a car in the jurisdiction of Phandu police station here on Saturday, the police said.

During his visit to the crime scene, SSP operations Masood Ahmad Bangash said some four to five persons, carrying different kinds of weapons, including a Kalashnikov and pistol, opened fire at the car, adding that six persons were killed and a passerby was wounded in the firing.

He said that according to initial information, the motive behind the killing was an old enmity, adding that one of the persons killed in the attack belonged to Swabi.

Mr Bangash said all the persons had attended a wedding and were on their way back, adding one person belonged to Hazarkhwani area and four to Badhber area of Peshawar.

Meanwhile, a woman constable was killed in the Shahpur area of the provincial capital.

A statement issued by the city police said the policewoman was posted in Prang area of Charsadda, adding that police lodged a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
