KARACHI, May 2: Brisk berthing activity was witnessed at the port where four ships to load and offload containers, rice and sugar, were accommodated on berths at QICT and MPT, respectively, on Monday, said a PQA press release.

Meanwhile two more ships carrying diesel oil and containers arrived at the outer anchorage during the last 24 hours. Berth occupancy remained at 78 per cent with the total eight ships occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, sugar, furnace oil and coke.

The port handled a cargo volume of 93,033 tons comprising 77,451 tons imports and 15,572 tons exports including 1,959 containers during the last 24 hours.

The port witnessed brisk sailing activity as three ships—MSC Brasilia, Sealand Independence and Sea Lion departed during the last 24 hours. MSC Carmen was expected to sail on Tuesday.
