GUJRAT: In a rare verdict, an additional district and sessions judge in Gujranwala handed down 10-year rigorous imprisonment to a man for subjecting his wife to unnatural sexual offence, on Saturday.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs50,000 on the convict.

According to the prosecution, the woman had lodged a case against her husband Muhammad Ateeq with Aroop police, accusing him of committing illegal sexual acts despite her resistance. She said his acts left a bad impact on her health.

The police registered a case under section 376 of Pakistan Penal Code against the suspect on May 4, 2024.

The complainant also alleged that the first wife of her husband had also got divorce from him through the court due to the same issue.
