FAISALABAD, May 1: A wanted man was killed in an encounter with police in Chak 48-JB, Jaranwala, on Monday. Some armed men were looting people when police encircled them.

The bandits exchanged fire with the police which continued for some 20 minutes.

In the crossfire, one of the dacoits identified as Qamar Abbas was killed while his accomplices managed to escape.

The police claimed that Abbas was wanted in a number of cases of dacoity, robbery and murder.

The police had killed two hardened criminals in separate encounters on Sunday.
