KARACHI, May 1: Pakistan People’s Party's Sindh chapter on Monday slammed the government for pursuing anti-worker policies and causing unemployment to thousands of industrial and agricultural workers all over the country, especially in Sindh.

This stance was taken by the frontline PPP leaders while speaking at a May Day rally, organized by Peoples Labour Bureau, at Bilal Chowrangi in Landhi Industrial Area where they also challenged the government claim of bringing prosperity to the country and its people.

PPP Sindh chapter's president Syed Qaim Ali Shah, leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly Nisar Khuhro, Rashid Rabbani, Khawaja Mohammad Awan, Waqar Mehdi, Rafiq Engineer and others criticized government polices, which they claimed, had caused unemployment, instability and had plunged the country in the vicious cycle of terrorism.

PPP Sindh president Syed Qaim Ali Shah accused the government had posted military officers on the plea that it was necessary for improving their performance. But these organizations have gone into red and a large number of people have been thrown out of the job. He said that KESC was one example of mismanagement by the uniformed people. Leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly Nisar Khuhro claimed that instead of creating job opportunities, the regime was snatching the livelihood from the poor. He accused the government of selling out national assets to foreigners.

Mr Khuhro said the government was implementing an international agenda of handing Pakistan's lifeline and strategic assets to foreigners. He criticized the privatization of Pakistan Steel. He was also critical of the privatization of the KESC.
