KHUZDAR / QUETTA: A retired police official and a civilian were gunned down by unknown armed men in Kalat on Monday, police said.

The armed men riding motorcycles targeted the ex-police official and another man in the main city area of Kalat town when they were on their way home and escaped.

Police shifted the bodies to district hospital. “The victims received multiple bullet injuries which caused their instant death,” police said.

The deceased were identified as Muhammad Rafiq and Abdul Waheed. The bodies were handed over to families after completing medico-legal formalities.

Three bodies recovered

Meanwhile, three unidentified bodies were recovered from the Samand Khan Goji riverbed in Barkhan district, and shifted to a nearby hospital for identification, on Monday.

According to the Barkhan assistant commissioner, Levies personnel along with the local administration reached the site after receiving information about the dumping of three bodies.

“Along with the bodies, magazine bags and the flags of a banned organisation were also found,” the assistant commissioner said.

Investigation is underway, and authorities are working to confirm the identities and determine the motive behind the killings.
