HYDERABAD, April 30: Jamshoro District Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar has banned manufacturing and sale of Mainpuri and Gutka in the district. He directed the DCO, DPO and the EDO health that the ban should not be only on paper but must be strictly enforced.

The nazim has received complaints that use of Mainpuri and Gutka was causing cancer among youth.

Speaking at an open kutchery in Manjhand town on Saturday, Mr Malik said that all villages in the taluka were being provided electricity at the cost of Rs7.5 million.

He said that all-out efforts were being made to provide basic facilities to people of the four talukas of the district.

Responding to another complaint about the encroachment in Unnarpur Musafirkhano, he directed the DCO to get the possession immediately vacated.

The nazim said that work was going on at hectic pace to ensure supply of clean water to people.

He said that all towns in the district would be provided with an effective sewerage system, Sui gas, roads and schools as well as playgrounds for children.

Mr Malik assured that the hospital would soon get an ambulance, X-ray and ultrasound machines and other hospital equipments.

During his visit to the government middle school, he announced a grant of Rs10,000 from his personal pocket for fans, benches and water cooler.

He also announced payment of Rs5,000 for women teachers who were rendering voluntary service.

District Naib Nazim Hameed Buledi was also present on the occasion.
