Signs of hunger are clearly visible on the faces of children in the Gaza Strip, Amjad Shawa, the head of the Palestinian NGOs Network in Gaza, has told Al Jazeera.

Shawa said that they had “reached an unprecedented level of humanitarian catastrophe in the enclave” where Israel is “systematically seeking to harm the lives of citizens in the Gaza Strip”.

“Blocking water, food, and medicine from the population is a flagrant violation, and the world must act,” he said. “Our capacity to respond to humanitarian needs has diminished significantly.”
