BAJAUR: The district administration here on Monday banned use and trade of firecrackers, toy guns, display of weapons, firing in the air and swimming and boating in dams and rivers for one month by imposing Section 144.

A statement issued by Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan said that the ban placed under Section 144 was meant to ensure safety of people and maintain peaceful environment in the district ahead and during Eidul Fitr.

It said that the restrictions were imposed to avoid anti- peace and anti-people activities on moon sighting night that might cause damage to life and property of people.

The statement said that the order would remain intact till April 22, 2025.

It urged locals to follow the ban with commitment and sincerity as it was imposed for their interests.

“I appeal the residents of entire district belonging to any walk, area, tribe and profession to follow the said restrictions for the larger interests of their children and themselves,” the statement quoted the deputy commissioner as saying.

It said that it was the responsibility of every citizen to follow the ban willingly to avoid potential strict punishment.
