GUJRANWALA, April 28: Failing to recover two sisters who were abducted seven and-a-half months ago at Lalapur village in Naushera Virkan, the district police on Friday announced a hefty cash award for the person leading them to the culprits.
In a surprising move, DPO Dr Arif Mushtaq announced Rs100,000 prize money for the recovery of the sisters.
The family said Humaira and Sumaira, daughters of Eish Muhammad Syed, went missing from outside their house seven and-a-half months ago. The Naushera Virkan police had registered a case against the suspects but failed to find any clue to them.
The DPO said the FIR No 459 was lodged on Sept 15, 2005 by the Naushera Virkan police. He said any information regarding the case could be conveyed at these numbers: 055-9200606, 9200631, 9200607-8, 9200612-13, 9200840 and 9200773. He assured that the names of informer(s) would be kept secret.
DEATH SENTENCE: A local court handed down death sentence to Munir with Rs100,000 fine in a murder case here on Friday.
The court, however, acquitted his parents and a brother.
According to the prosecution, Munir killed Rabia Bibi over minor issue in Model Town last year.
JAIL TRAGEDY: The Anti-Terrorism court No 1 on Friday continued the hearing of the Sialkot jail incident and completed evidences of prosecution witnesses.
The court summoned judicial magistrate Sher Dil for recording his statement on the incident. But the prosecution pleaded that all the required evidence had been completed. The court accepted the plea and adjourned the case till Saturday (today).
The court would shortly start recording the statements of the accused.
