SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Curfew imposed for a day in Upper South Waziristan district was lifted on Wednesday evening.

Deputy commissioner Saleem Jan said that main roads that were closed from 6am to 6pm were reopened to traffic.

The routes included from Aziz Abad Chowk to Sarvekai and Jandola, as well as the roads from Spin Jumat to Ladha and from Bibi Raghzai to Kotkai and Jandola.

The deputy commissioner told Dawn that the curfew had been imposed due to security concerns and potential threats. “However, with the situation now normalised, the curfew has been lifted,” he added.

It is important to note that the security situation in both Lower and Upper South Waziristan districts has significantly deteriorated over the past year, with an increase in terrorist activities, including bombings, targeted killing, and attacks on police and security forces’ checkposts.
