KARACHI, April 27: Eleven top sharp shooters in pistol and rifle have been selected to undergo extensive eight weeks training with Chinese national team in China, a spokesman of National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP) announced on Thursday.

NRAP is awaiting dates from Chinese Shooting Federation and sending their six men and five women shooter to Beijing to attend this important training programme in order to enhance their performance and skill.

Chinese shooters and coaches are rated among the best at the global level with most scientific and modern training.

The shooters picked for training in China included Melbourne CommonwealthGames silver medalist Irshad Ali, Maqbool Hussain and Muhammad Mustaqeem (men), Mehwish Maqbool and Capt, Azra (women) for pistol event, Ayaz Tahir, Dawood Jan, Muhammad Siddique (men) Hibra Yaqoob, Urooj Fatima, Nadia Saeed (women) for rifle.

Rasheed Javed (fifle) and Zahid Ali (pistol) are standby shooters.

Meanwhile, an eight-day coaches course will be held at Naval Shooting Range from June 4 to 11.

International Sports Shooting Federation (ISSF) qualified coach Razi Ahmed Khan will be conducting the course with assistance from Col. Sikhawat and Cdr. Muhammad Idrees.

NRAP is conducting the course on behalf Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and Pakistan Olympic Association. 25 coaches representing Punjab, Sindh, NWFP, Balochistan, Federal Territory Islamabad, Army, Navy, PAF and High Education Commission has been invited to attend the course.

The basic purpose of this course to train junior coaches ton train and coach promising shooters at the grass-root level.—APP
