KARACHI, April 27: The Nazim of Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town, Wasay Jalil, has asked the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation to remove illegal electricity connections in Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Block-7, and provide new connections to residents there.

During a surprise visit to the locality on Thursday, Mr Jalil learnt that some residents of the locality, comprising 300 bungalows and which was without electricity, had got illegal power connections.

Residents of the locality told the nazim that the KESC had not yet given them connections despite them completing all formalities, therefore, compelling them to get power supply through the ‘kunda system’.

The nazim asked the concerned KESC officials to immediately remove kunda connections and install PMTs to provide electricity in the area.

The KESC’s Manager, Iqbal Sheikh, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Deputy General Manager Aijaz Ali, Town Naib Nazim Shoaib Akhtar, TMO Matanat Ali Khan and other officials accompanied the town nazim.

Meanwhile, the Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town’s administration is also launching an anti-measles drive on April 28.

According to the Town Health Officer (THO), Dr Nusrat, anti-measles vaccination will be conducted at the Sardar Clinic in Sherpao Basti, UC-1, Osama Maternity Home in Madina Colony, UC-8, Mughal Hazara Goth Imambargah, UC-13, and Aftab School in Quaid-i-Azam Colony, UC-11.
