TOBA TEK SINGH: A young man along with his cousin allegedly threw acid on his mother-in-law at Jattanwala Chowk in the Ghulam Muhammad Abad locality of Faisalabad on Monday.
Complainant Farzana Arshad stated in her FIR, registered by Ghulam Muhammadabad police under Section 336-B, that her son-in-law, Muhammad Usman, had asked her to marry her daughter to his cousin Muhammad Haseeb. She and her husband rejected the proposal, after which Usman allegedly threatened to throw acid on her.
She added in the FIR that while she was on her way with her husband, suspects Usman and Haseeb threw acid on her, causing serious burn injuries.
She was shifted to the burn unit of Allied Hospital. A police spokesperson said Haseeb had been arrested, and raids were being conducted to arrest the main accused, Muhammad Usman.
Also, a man was injured after an LPG cylinder exploded in his kitchen in the Thikriwala area, Chak 272 JB, Faisalabad, on Monday. Reports said the blast occurred due to a gas leakage. Injured Irfan Javed, 42, was shifted to the burn unit of Allied Hospital.

He said students from China, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Benin, Canada, Malaysia, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Togo, the UK and Iran are studying at the university under various scholarships. These include the German DAAD Scholarship, Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarship for Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, the OIC Scholarship for less-developed countries, DAFI, the German Academic Refugee Fund and self-funded programmes.
He said that when students from different countries come together, they gain opportunities to think from new perspectives, fostering globalisation. He said international partnerships had helped the UAF establish institutions, such as the Centre for Advanced Studies, the Chinese Confucius Centre, the Pak-Korea Nutrition Centre and the Seed Center at UAF, paving new paths for development.
PROBE: The Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department secretary has ordered the Faisalabad director of health services to conduct an inquiry into allegations against health officials in Jhang district.
The inquiry officer has summoned the Jhang district health authority chief executive officer, DHQ hospital medical superintendent and other senior health officials to appear for the inquiry on March 13.
As per complaint, corruption was committed in the recruitment of class-IV employees.
RAPE: A six-year-old boy was allegedly raped in Chak 199 RB Guttwala, Faisalabad, on Monday.
Reports said the suspect lured the child to a deserted place and aped him. Madina Town police have arrested the suspect.
RAID: The Kamalia administration raided the house of Allah Ditta in Kamal Colony on Monday and recovered 1,150 sacks of hoarded sugar stored in different rooms. Officials said intelligence agencies had detected the sugar hoarding, leading to the raid. The seized sugar, worth Rs9 million, was stored illegally.
The house has been sealed, and a case has been registered against the accused.
