LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday extended pre-arrest bail of PTI-backed MPAs Hafiz Farhat Abbas and Ali Imtiaz Warraich in multiple cases of May 9 riots, including Jinnah House attack.

ATC-I Judge Manzer Ali Gill heard the petitions as both MPAs appeared before the court on expiry of their bail period.

A police official sought more time from the court to present the record of the Jinnah House attack case, saying the same was lying with the Supreme Court.

The judge extended the bail of Mr Warraich and Mr Abbas till April 4 and April 8, respectively. The judge allowed an application of former MPA Nadeem Abbas Bara for one-time exemption from personal appearance.

SENTENCE: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday sentenced three accused to life imprisonment for kidnapping a child for ransom.

ATC-I Judge Manzer Ali Gill announced the verdict in the presence of the accused persons including Mehwish Bibi, who is the step-grandmother of the kidnapped boy.

The prosecution alleged that the accused persons kidnapped five-year-old Ariz from the Sundar area and demanded ransom of Rs100 million. The police had successfully recovered the kidnapped boy and arrested the accused.
