LAHORE: The Germany junior hockey team secured a rousing 4-3 victory over Pakistan Juniors in the opening match of their four-game hockey series here at the Manzoor-ul-Hassan Senior Hockey Stadium on Thursday.

The second match of the series is scheduled for Saturday at the same venue, starting at 9:00 pm local time.

Benedikt Hasbach scored twice, while Alec von Schwerin and John Dammertz added one goal each for the visiting Germans.

Pakistan’s captain Abdul Hanan Shahid, Rana Wahid and Hamza Fayyaz found the net for the hosts.

Notably, the Germany junior team has become the first hockey side to tour Pakistan in 21 years. The visitors held a practice session at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore on Friday.

The four-match series will see three games played in Lahore, with the final match scheduled to take place in Islamabad.
