APNS award ceremony next month

KARACHI, April 26: The All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) has announced names of the winners of the 17th APNS Journalists Awards for 2003-2004. The awards will be given at a ceremony to be held in May in Islamabad.

The panel of judges consisted of prominent writers and intellectuals.

The following were declared winners in the various categories:

Best investigative report: Aamir Mir of monthly Herald

Best scoop: Rauf Klasra of The News International

Best column (English): Nazir Ahmed Bhatti, The News International

Best column (Urdu): Orya Maqbool Jan, daily Jang

Best feature (English): Shimaila Matri Dawood, monthly Newsline

Best feature (Urdu): Rizwan Ahmed Tariq, daily Jang

Best feature (regional languages): Humera Noor, Ibrat magazine

Best article (English): M Ilyas Khan, monthly Herald

Best article (Urdu): Razia Fareed, daily Jang

Best article (regional languages): Manzoor Jokhio, daily Kawish

Best cartoon: Munawar Abro, monthly Newsline

Best photograph: Mubarak Almas, daily Khabrain.
