ISLAMABAD: Gunmen murdered a man during a robbery while suspects disguised as police officials looted an expatriate, police said on Saturday.

In the first incident, a man was murdered during a robbery about two kilometres away from the Tarnol police station. The deceased was identified as Mohammad, son of Ahmadullah, a native of Quetta.

The incident took place on GT Road Tarnol where two riders of a motorcycle intercepted and held the expatriate at gunpoint. He put up resistance when the gunmen tried to snatch cash and mobile from him, which annoyed the robbers, and they started firing. As a result, the man sustained bullet injuries and fell on the road, while bleeding profusely. The robbers later escaped from the spot.

After getting information, a police patrolling team from Chungi No 26 reached the spot and shifted the injured to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Over the incident, a case has been registered against the robbers.

Meanwhile, impersonators in disguise of police officials looted an expatriate at a distance of a kilometre from Sangjani police station. The police said that Niazur Rehman came to the Islamabad airport to receive his brother arriving from Saudi Arabia. When he was returning home with his brother, riders of a car signalled him to stop after they crossed the Sangjani toll plaza.

A man sitting on the front seat was in police uniform and holding a wireless set, while the driver was also in uniform. They inquired about the expatriate and searched him during which the suspects snatched his purse carrying 6,100 Saudi Riyals and escaped. A case has been registered at the Sangjani police station.
