ONCE regarded among the most desirable residential areas in Karachi, North Nazimabad has over the years faced a severe decline in infrastructure, making life increasingly difficult for the area residents. In the last two years, parti- cularly in recent months, the situation has worsened drastically. Broken roads and deep potholes now dot every single street, creating hazardous conditions for vehicles and pedestrians alike.

For drivers and motorcyclists, navigating the streets has become a difficult task. Senior citizens and pedestrians face even greater challenges, with the uneven terrain posing a serious risk of injury. Ambulances struggle to reach emergencies due to such pathetic road conditions, highlighting the dire need for immediate action.

Beyond the physical inconvenience, these issues have contributed to increased pollution, further degrading the quality of life in the area. The once-posh neig-hbourhood seems to have been wilfully neglected, and the residents feel aban-doned by the authorities responsible for maintaining the road infrastructure.

The municipal authorities and other relevant departments should prioritise the repair and restoration of North Nazimabad’s roads and streets. Prompt action is ess-ential for the wellbeing of its residents.
