ISLAMABAD, April 24: The local administration arrested the father of a groom in a marriage ceremony at Sector G-6 for serving meal in violation of the Supreme Court directives on Monday, city magistrate Farasat Ali Khan, who led the raiding party, told Dawn.

The Valima ceremony of Imran Khalid, son of Khalid Hussain, was being held in Sector G-6/1-2. The meal was being served under a tent pitched in street No 52.

The raiding party and the police also confiscated the meal. However, the groom escaped from the scene. A case has been registered against the groom and his father.

Two cases of violation of the marriage ordinance have already been registered in the capital including one against a deputy secretary whose son’s marriage ceremony was being held in a hotel. The second case was detected in Sector I-8.
