KARACHI: Special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister on Investment and Public-Private Partnership Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar on Monday inaugurated the first phase of Pakistan’s largest biomethane gas project in Gadap Town of district Malir.

As the chief guest, Mr Qasim said the Bio-Waste Energy Ventures Private Ltd (BWEVPL) plant would produce biomethane gas from cow and buffalo dung, a significant step towards clean and environment-friendly energy.

With this project, businessmen associated with the dairy industry will be aware of the usefulness of obtaining useful gas from cow-buffalo dung, he said. This initiative will provide economic stability to the dairy sector and create new employment opportunities, he remarked.

Engro Polymer and Chemicals (EPCL), a subsidiary of Engro Corporation, has successfully commissioned its Rs11.7 billion hydrogen peroxide plant.

This project has been developed with investment from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to support EPCL’s expansion in the hydrogen peroxide market.
