QUETTA, April 23: The provincial home department has set-up a tribunal headed by the sessions judge Quetta Mohammad Akbar Achakzai to probe the death of a prisoner, Ghulam Sarwar, in Shalkot police station.

An official handout issued on Saturday said the tribunal had been asked to submit its report to the government within 15 days.

Balochistan National Party (Mengal) Secretary General Habib Jalib Baloch at a press conference on Friday night alleged that master Ghulam Sarwar was tortured to death in Shalkot police station.

He demanded re-postmortem of the body, as the family members were not satisfied with the earlier report of the postmortem.

Mr Baloch said that the deceased was arrested from Mastung on Friday morning and brought to Quetta where he was killed in police torture and asked the government to register an FIR against police officials. He also asked the government to suspend the SHO and other officials of the police station.

KIDNAPPING: Provincial Chief Secretary K.B. Rind has taken serious notice of the abduction of 12 children in a month in Quetta and directed the provincial police officer to take all steps to recover them.

The official statement issued here on Saturday said that the accused involved in the crime should be arrested and be given exemplary punishment.
