KARACHI: A young man was shot dead on Superhighway on Monday evening, police said.

The Sachal police said that 35-year-old Farhan Qasim was killed by unknown assailants near at he Total Petrol Pump opposite Kababjees.

Police spokesperson Syed Umair Shah told Dawn that it appeared to be an incident of targeted killing.

He said the victim parked his car near the petrol pump and was going towards a shop when armed men riding a motorcycle fired two-three shots and fled.

He suffered critical bullet wounds and was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The victim was associated with the fisheries.

The exact motive behind the murder was being investigated, the spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, a man was shot dead and another injured in the SITE area on Monday, police said.

They added that Fajar Babu, 25, and Usman Ghani, 25, were wounded over some monetary dispute near Metroville, Khyber Gate. They were taken to the ASH where Babu died during treatment while the other was later on shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi.
