QUETTA: The Balochistan police chief has emphasised maintaining law and order, controlling crime, delivering public services and ensuring the welfare of the police force as top priorities.

Speaking to the trainee officers of the 42nd Mid-Career Management Course (MCMC) from the National Institute of Public Administration, Quetta, on Wednesday, IGP Moazzam Jah Ansari highlighted the role of self-accountability and individual responsibility in eradicating crimes and societal evils.

He underscored the importance of utilising modern technology to combat terrorism and criminal activities.

“Balochistan police force is committed to effective public service delivery and the rapid eradication of crime, upgrading all police stations in the province to smart police stations,” he said, lauding the data system initiative for maintaining comprehensive records of criminals and crimes, calling it a significant step toward modern policing.

IGP Ansari urged the trainee officers to earn public trust through exemplary professionalism, ensuring their services are remembered positively. Stressing the need for honesty and dedication, he reiterated that the protection of citizens’ lives and property is a fundamental government responsibility, with the police playing a critical role.

He highlighted community policing initiatives, including the establishment of women police stations and juvenile facilitation centres, aimed at protecting vulnerable groups such as women and transgender individuals. He also announced the renaming of the Coastal Highway Police to “Coastal Highway and Tourism Police”.
