ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and PM Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Donald Trump on assuming office as the 47th US president, on Monday.

In separate messages, the president and PM extended their best wishes to the new US president.

PM Shehbaz wrote on X: “I look forward to working with him to strengthen the enduring Pakistan-US partnership.”

He said over the years, both the two great countries had worked together closely to pursue peace and prosperity in the region and beyond for their people, adding, “and we shall continue to do so in the future”.

NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq also hoped that under President Trump, bilateral ties between Pakistan and the US would be further strengthened.
