BAHAWALPUR: A minor girl was mauled by two pet dogs of a man at Basti Jalalabad at Daipailwala village in the limits of Lodhran Saddar police station on Sunday.

According to a police spokesman, the complainant,Abdul Aziz alleged that pet dogs of a village resident, Ghulam Yasin, had been left unchained in the area.

He said his daughter, Alia (8), went in the street, where the two pet dogs mauled her, inflicting wounds on her legs and head.

He said the girl was rushed to hospital for medical aid.

Acting on the complaint, the police registered an FIR (No 59/25) against the owner of dogs under section 289 of the PPC and arrested him.

Meanwhile, Saddar police, Kahrorepucca, arrested one Asif under Telegraphic Act for making a hoax telephone call to police regarding the theft of his motorcycle and lodged him in lock-up.

ANTI-ENCROACHMENT DRIVE: Commissioner Ms Musarrat Jabeen has directed the administrations of three districts, Bahawalnagar and Rahimyarkhan and Bahawalpur to launch anti-encroachments and anti-graffiti campaigns in their respective jurisdictions.

She issued the ordered while presiding over a meeting of DCs, chief officers of municipal committees and ACs of the division here on Sunday.

The commissioner told the officer that no laxity would be tolerated in the anti-encroachment campaigns as Punjab chief minister has ordered removal of illegal structures from all the roads and streets.

She also ordered load excel management of the trailers and other heavy vehicles in the division. On the occasion, Regional Police Officer Rai Babar Saeed said the traffic police would take strict action against any violation of load excel management.

Meanwhile, Lodhran DC Dr Lubna Nazir reviewed anti-encroachment drive in the district for the second day on Sunday.The DC personally supervised the drive launched by anti-encroachment cells at all the three tehsil headquarters, demolishing a large number of illegal structures built in front of shops.

ART SHOW: A large number of art lovers thronged the Hakkra Art Gallery at the Islamia University, Bahawalpur (IUB) Baghdad-ul-Jadid Campus to witness the spring semester degree show of the University College of Art and Design students.

At the show, the students displayed their art works, including paintings, calligraphy, digital art etc.

The show was inaugurated by IUB Faculty of Arts and Languages Dean Prof Dr Syed Aamir Sohail.

MURDER: A drug addict allegedly shot his wife dead over a domestic dispute at his house near Allied Cotton Factory on Jhangiwali Road on Sunday.

According to the police and Rescue 1122 officials, the suspect, Belal would often quarrel with his wife Shamshad Bibi.

On Sunday, the couple again had a quarrel at their house and Belal, in a fit of rage, shot his wife dead. He managed to escape.

Baghdad-ul-Jadid police shifted the body to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) for the postmortem examination and registered a murder case against the suspect.
