MUZAFFARABAD: The Special Communications Organisation (SCO), a public sector entity providing telecom services in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), has launched the first freelancing hub for persons with disabilities in the state capital.

Designed to train and nurture the skills of disabled youth, the hub is equipped with advanced computers, high-speed internet, and a 24/7 power backup system, offering an inclusive environment and specialised facilities for internships, said SCO’s Director General Maj-Gen Umar Ahmad Shah, who inaugurated thehubat the Noble Foundation, a non-governmental organisation dedicated to the welfare of differently-abled persons in Muzaffarabad.

“People with disabilities possess unique abilities and talents, and it is a privilege to serve them. Special arrangements have been made to train them, marking a revolutionary step to empower them in the IT sector. Now, they can showcase their skills globally, just like other youth,” Maj Gen Shah told Dawn.

He also reaffirmed the SCO’s commitment to ushering in an IT revolution in AJK, with plans to transform the Noble Foundation into a model institution for persons with disabilities.
